A Thought for Our Friends Overseas

The words are stuck - emotions flow,
as mourning hearts let candles glow,
while the banners are flying low,
after another dire blow.

Storms might spare the bowing willow,
and old mangroves brave a billow,
yet, hatred cuts the deepest "hollow"
wrecking all the souls, who follow.

Sweet words can sound far too mellow,
bitter terms growl like a bellow;
wrath keep off the lovely swallow,
noisy cheers look rather shallow.

A humble quest: Father, allow!
Let's recall the lives we hallow,
cut from our earthly "sallow"
leaving gaps of empty fallow.

             In Memoriam, 2016

Though fifteen years have passed us by

Since fiends launched terror from the sky,

We'll not forget before we die

Events that fixed our history's eye.

Especially, we won't forget

The innocents, who died by yet

Another heinous act, beset

By hate and what it may beget.

Those heroes all, whose souls have flown

To spheres beyond this Earthly zone,

Combating evil, not alone,

Saved many lives, but gave their own.

So like McCrae in Flanders Fields,

Take up your weapons and your shields

'Til terrorism finally yields

And liberty her banner wields.

You're very welcome, T(h)ink.

I was very late with my messages here - and saying just "wow - great job" was not so adequate for a commemorative message - so, I wanted to let these flowers speak for me. <3
