Why is rigging up Christmas lights/decorations such a chore?

It isn't for me anymore. I bought a pair of those laser Christmas  lights last year and it takes only a few minutes to set them up. No climbing ladders and trying to find bad bulbs ! Not that anyone could see them as I live far off any main roads but my girls and wife wanted some decorations.

Unfortunately, I live in a subdivision and have two rather large trees in front of my home. (Lasers won't work)
